Oops!

So... stupid me forgot to take pictures of the cards that I made for my daughter's teacher! :( They came out really cute too. I was just in such a hurry to get them to her that I completely spaced that I was going to post them on here! Oh well!

I realized the other day on the anniversary of my Mom's death (17 years ago) that I haven't scrapped a single page honoring or remembering her! There are several reasons for this I think. One has been avoidance, for sure. I just know that when I sit down to do it there will be many emotions stirred and I just haven't wanted to deal with it. Another big reason is, I think I have put a lot of pressure on myself to make it perfect. I feel that I can't make it perfect so why even attempt trying at all? Basically it's a bunch of psychological road blocks that I simply MUST overcome!! I mean really, 17 years is WAY to long and I don't think there will ever be a perfect time or a perfect way to do it, I have to just DO IT!

Back to school...

(Big huge sigh) Back to school for my daughter which means back to work for me (another big sigh). I'm struggling with this as you can probably tell! It really feels like the summer just started! It feels like we JUST got out of school. Of course I think the weather here in New England is playing a big part in all of this because the "summer" weather really did just start!

Well, at least my scrap room/office is finally done, thanks to my hubby :)
I've been working on a few projects, one for a friend and some cards for my daughter's teacher. I will share when I'm finished! :)

For Baby

Here's a few pictures of some baby onesies that I "embellished" for my daughter's dance teacher. She's due to have a baby boy a month from today!

The picture doesn't really do them justice, they came out really cute. I used Stampin' Up! Craft ink to stamp the baby and monster images (both from a muse stamps) then printed the phrases onto some iron-on transfer paper using my computer. The font is CK Curly Cursive.

I really need to work on a better way to photograph my projects! I'm still working on this room of mine, hopefully when I'm done (sometime this year!) I'll be able to create a better set up for pictures. :)

Blog name change

I've been trying to come up with a name for my blog that I really like, well this weekend it came to me (inspired by a book I was reading)...Jenniferland (that's not the title of the book by the way). So of course the name is already taken on Blogger (Jennifer is like the most common name on the earth...which I forever scolded my mother for through most of my childhood!) I had to try a bunch of alternatives and this was the closest I got, Jennifersland (they won't let you use characters). I like it though, it's a little catchier (is that a word?!) and I think it fits (I hope)!

Giveaway Goodness :)

Here are some very nice goodies I won on the SEI Blog! I love this line, it's called "Lovebirds". If I ever get my "scrap room" clean and organized (I'm in the middle of an overhaul right now) maybe I'll make something cute with it :)

Had to share this :)

My 9yo daughter just finished a week of art camp that focused on collage. Each day throughout the week the students, using various medium and experimenting with textures, created colorful pieces/samples. On the last day they drew a self portrait and filled in the white space with torn pieces of their samples. I just love how hers turned out and am so proud of her natural talent! The instructors were quite impressed :)

Here it is:

This is the little project I mentioned I had been working on for a friend. It's done! (I apologize for the poor photos) I got the idea from the Zutter Bind-it- All blog. I'm a tea drinker and so is my best friend so I just had to make one for her :) The phrase "a cup of tea solves everything" came from a Facebook group I'm a member of, I love the phrase and thought it would be perfect for this project.

This is the first "page". Each "page" is actually a pocket, inside each pocket is a tea bag. There are a total of 6 pockets.

This is the last page. The SF stands for Special Friend :)

Some of the phrases that I used, were actually borrowed from a rubber stamp company (that I love!) Papertrey Ink. I couldn't afford the stamp set right now so I had to borrow some of the sentiments :) I'm not sure what the rules are about that sort of thing but I'm hoping it's ok.

I used a variety of papers, most from Stampin' Up! Some from Collage Press. Also used some rubber stamps from Technique Tuesday from their Ali Edwards line.

Learning...

I finally figured out how to post "blinkies" and such on the side bar of my blog! The Peachy Cheap website is awesome, I got a great deal on some beautiful paper from Fancy Pants and they threw in a cute little tote bag :) The Spongebob/Patrick thing was a silly thing I did for my 9-y.o. daughter's entertainment, she found my results hysterical! I told her of course I'd get Patrick, I'm married to him ;)

I'm almost done with a project I've been working on, a gift for a friend of mine. As soon as I'm finished I will attempt to put pics up here.

So I started this blog...

...a LONG time ago and it was originally going to be all about my Nigerian goats and farm life experiences. Well, I still have the goats and my little farm but realized that I have so many other interests that I can't blog about just one thing. So here I am, posting my first "post" (I think that's what it's called).

I'll admit that I fear I really have nothing worth blogging about or anything people would be interested in reading about, but I'll give it a try and maybe even post (if I can figure out how to do it) some creative projects I'm working on or (gasp) have finished! That is if I don't get completely distracted by something else...

Time to go feed the animals :)
